I am typing this entry entirely in Dvorak. It’s still very slow going and I have to think about almost every character before I type it, but I figured that the best way to get my typing speed up was to actually force myself to type a little in Dvorak every day, instead of just relying on lots of typing tests.
Hopefully one day I won’t fell completely crippled by this layout. Going from a 70 to 80 WPM typing speed using QWERTY to a 20 to 25 WPM typing speed using Dvorak is torturous.
And on that note, back to QWERTY before I go mad!

I currently type at a speed of about 70-80 WPM with 95% accuracy using a QWERTY layout. I would like to reach the same typing speed using DVORAK, and be able to switch effortlessly between the two layouts. Right now it’s slow going in DVORAK – I keep reverting to QWERTY when I stop concentrating.
I’m also trying to improve my accuracy in QWERTY while I’m at it, so that I can type without watching the screen and not need to correct as many mistakes or us backspace quite so often.
