Today I finished with the books in my living room. My living room has all my art/photography books, all my books about cats, my few precious first editions and all my astrology books. Attached is a photo of my astrology bookcase. Next on the agenda are the books in my dining room which holds two smallish bookcases.

Just completed the kitchen which has very few books. Cookbooks. Very Few. One Microwave. Priceless,,,:-)
Next I’m moving on to the books in the living room.
Yes, I am completely done with the second floor of my house. The pic shows my office (looking preternaturally neat!!!). The office does not have any bookcases per se; it is where I keep books-in-progress and books-to-be-read. Next I will be moving on to the first floor and I guess I’ll start with the kitchen which obviously has the cookbooks. Not too many though, I must say.
Moving along on this goal with a total of 195 books cataloged so far. I am almost finished with this bookcase which you can see in the corner of my bedroom. This bookcase is EXCLUSIVELY devoted to my Tarot books. I also have a collection of about 40 Tarot decks that I keep in a basket on the top shelf. I have found that reading Tarot cards is an excellent tool for self awareness.
So far I have a total of 161 books cataloged on LibraryThing. I am just about done with this bookcase which is one of two in my bedroom. This bookcase has LOTS of poetry books, some Annie Dillard, some M.F.K. Fisher and LOTS of glass collectible reference books. I also have my back issues of BIBLIO and FIRSTS magazines here and a bunch of Glass Collector Digests.
This goal is progressing very nicely. I started with a small bookcase in my upstairs hall (and I’ve included a photo of said bookcase for your viewing pleasure.) I was amazed to discover that there are close to 70 books in this one small space. Most of them are books about reading/writing, books about book collecting, books about collecting other stuff, some computer books and miscellaneous reference books (scrabble dictionary, etc.)
LibraryThing has been an INVALUABLE tool in this effort. It takes just a few seconds to add a book and then you can spend as much time as you like writing comments or reviews. I recommend this process highly not least for the reason that I am sure I will discover some long lost books!
Next I will move on to my bedroom which has 2 bookscases.
Many thanks to all the people who recommended LibraryThing. I signed up for it this morning and my catalog now has ONE book on it! This does seem like a fairly daunting goal but I will take Anne Lamott’s advice to do it “Bird by Bird”,,,:-),,,In an attempt to keep it organized I will list books by their location in the house. My townhouse has a basement, first floor, and second floor and all have books. Well, yes, every room has books. So, I will start with my second floor where i am now. At least I won’t have to go down to the basement for awhile!
