I’ve seem them twice, and never planned it. Once in the dead of winter, and once in the summer (!) on the Keewenaw in Michigan. My uncle told us it was the wrong time of year to see them, and that we were all smoking ‘funny tobacco’, but I know what I saw. It looked like a light accordion, or organ, silently blowing off ‘notes’
But I don’t think this is a goal you can plan. It’s just one of those wonderful things you have to just let happen to you.
