First in a new Series  — 3 months ago

I’m calling this series “My wish list” and the pictures will all be 8×10 inches and instead of framing them I’m going to laminate them. Not neccesarily for people to see but I’ll put them on the wall of my stair way to remind me of the places I “wish” I could go to.

First in the series taken from a postcard is “Ullaru” in Northern Territory in Australia. Not first because I want it so badly, but first because it was within easy reach and I wanted to get started!

"Joe Cool" the tiger....  — 3 months ago

After the success of “Growling Tiger” (I’ve had three people ask me to sell it and one asked if I do commissions) I decided to do a smaller tiger and came up with “Joe Cool” I call him that because he’s got a little smirk on his face like “I’m going to eat you!” He’s 8 by 10 inches and is framed on my filing cabinet!

You're Not the boss of me Framed..  — 3 months ago

You're not the boss of me.....  — 3 months ago

When Master 6 came home from school, he said “oh Mum I love your bird, but….....”

I held my breath I don’t take critism well, unless it’s from an expert like my teacher!

Mummy: “Why William what’s wrong with my picture?”
William: “well, that trees not exactly right”
Mummy: “Really (Trying not to smile) what’s wrong with it?”
William: (Being very important and deadly serious!)”it’s just not right”
Mummy: “Oh ok, well what do you think I can do to make it better?”
William: “I don’t know I just know it’s not right, but it’s not so bad, and anyways Mummy Jeff (my art teacher) said that you could do it how you like it, so if you like your tree wrong then it’s Ok with me”
Mummy: (Now I’m trying not to laugh) Oh ok thanks William what do you think of L’s Toucan?”
William: “Oh that’s ok, not as good as yours and it’s wrong too”
Mummy: (I was thinking to myself, Shit I took this kid to the Art Gallery for three hours and suddenly he’s a bloody Art critic) “What’s wrong with L’s picture William?”
William:”Oh well see here” (He points to the beak) there’s not enough orange”
I nodded wisely and asked: “Anything else wrong with it?”
William: “Well it’s not exactly the same as the picture she changed the shape” but I guess it’s OK for her first time!!!”

At that time my Bloke walked in and William pointed out these “faults” to him. He raised an eyebrow and waited until William walked out of the room and asked “Woah when did he become an art critic?!”

Goes to show you can please some people some of the time but not all of the poeple all of the time. I got very mixed reactions to this one and I’ll take to to class tomorrow and ask Jeff what he thinks!

Meanwhile here’s L’s “Peacan-the toucan” she kept saying “I want to paint that peacan” and I’m like the what?! She picked up the picture and I said “It’s a bloody TOUCAN not a peacan” Oh well she did a great job!

Oh yes- But I've been working at home too.... and teaching my cousin as well.  — 3 months ago

So this week I taught my cousin how to use pastels.. and while she worked on “Peacan the toucan” I did
“You’re not the boss of me” he’s very cute! and waiting patiently to be framed for the wall, he’s going in the entrance hall.

My eldest son (well the one living at home anyways) Master 13 was arguing on his way out the door and I finished the conversation with “you are NOT the boss of me, I AM the boss of you!” yes I know I know childish arguing with a 13 yr old but….. it’s morning and they can be rough with master 13 adhd kid!

Anyways when my cousin saw this picture that I was going to do she thought of the title for it and it just seems to fit!

But there's more too...  — 3 months ago

in between the Macedon Gum tree and St Leonard the pelican I did “Maldon Goose” now I have to be perfectly honest and confess while I was doing this piece I lost interest and almost gave up and instead did what I should have done and called on my teacher for his opinion… he gave me a lecture about not coming to class every week expecting to create a masterpiece… he went on to say that Van Gogh and Picasso didn’t make a master piece every piece they did, just that we didn’t see the ones that werenot masterpieces… point taken “so help me” says I!

So he took my work turned it upside down and smudged the hard work I’d done and hated and produced this!! I must admit his version of it is much nicer than mine….

Oh haven't updated here for a while,  — 3 months ago

Oh and some of it’s been so good too….
Let me see what I can find.

“St leonard- the pelican”
Taken at our holiday place St Leonards, there are a family of 12 Pelicans and here is one of them, this s by far the best work I’ve done and will very proudly join the “Swan Lake” piece on the wall.

Week three -term two...... A landscape.  — 4 months ago

This here is Mount Macedon and a gum tree with a storm coming, I took the photo from the back of “Bette Beemer” doing about 100 kilometers an hour… Although the painting itself isn’t too bad it’s not one that I’m excited about… maybe landscape is not my thing.

Week two- Term Two- Tuesday 21st April,.  — 4 months ago

A sequal to my popular “Pumpkin Parade” this one aptly named “Vegies” LOL how un-original!!!
Never mind, I’m going to frame them in matching frames and hang them both very proudly on my dining room wall alongside “Swan Lake” until I am tired of marvelling over that and move it else where!
I used similar colours as the “pumpkin Parade” so that I could have a matching pair and used the same coloured paper and butternut pumpkin!!
