was going to lie on our bed. Then he broke up with me, and I haven’t been able to bring myself to touch it ever since. My boss remarked this week how sad that is, and what a waste of material! (Nicola is a very practical person… I love her for it…) She suggested I finish it and give it away, but I’m not ready to do that just yet. Someday I hope to do so, and give it to my little niece. I like to imagine her playing on it with her dolls and books under the trees on my brother’s farm…
Not yet.
Maybe I should try starting another one. It might do me some good. :)

So, this is what the quilt looks like thus far. I must admit that all the blocks don’t exactly line up.. but I had great fun putting the whole thing together! I think I might choose to go with a definite colour scheme next time round – this can get a bit busy… but I still love it :) It is the first thing I’ve ever sewn without any outside interference from my mother, and it was a delightful experience. Can’t wait to finish it!

Did research on quilts all day long, and found some amazing pictures! I’m buying the material on Saturday morning and fetching the machine from my mom on Sunday :)
I find it really inspiring that there are so many talented, creative people in this world who still take the time to make beautiful things with so much love and care.
I think I’ll make the first practice quilt for myself; something floral and girly and beautiful :)

I phoned my mom today and asked her if I could have her old elna sewing machine. She got it when she and my dad were married, so it’s older than I am, but it still works perfectly and she’s just had it serviced too. She agreed to let me have it, and I told her I wanted to make a quilt. Of course she immediately asked if I had a pattern in mind, which I didn’t, but I just asked her not to stifle my creativity and allow me to learn on my own. She agreed to let me :)
Just had a look on wikiHow and it doesn’t seem like rocket science, and I think I’ll start with a baby quilt… :)
