go bird watching

I haven’t been bird-watching anywhere “out there”, but I love watching the antics of the birds coming in our garden. We had a robin visiting until recently. And for the first time that I’ve noticed, we’ve had great tits (yes, boom-boom). We always have a regular hoard of starlings and have regular blue tits. On the odd occasion we get a visit from a goldfinch. The most recent was only last week. Also last week, as we were traveling around the Sandy area of Bedfordshire (fairly close to the RSPB in fact) we saw a kestrel hovering at the side of the road.

Although there has been a distinct lack of birds in our garden of late, what birds we HAVE been getting have been beautiful. We’ve been having 2 goldfinches visit us of late. But in the last three days only the female of the pair has been coming here. I hope nothing has happened to the male.

I want to get up really REALLY early (more like just not go to bed) and go bird watching. Early in the morning is the best time to do it…but as you might be able to see from one of my other entries…I don’t do mornings very well!
