learn Latin

I haven’t given up on this. I finished my first year and almost passed so now I’m retaking it in the summer. I’m going to take the second year in the fall. I also attend a great online course with Dr. Dale Grote and some other people. We meet via netmeeting and go through the Wheelock chapters. It keeps me accountable weekly so I know I’ve done some Latin each week. I need to try to do a little vocabulary work each day.

Wrote this semesters final. What a slog! I hope next term will be easier. I think I will review the vocabulary in smaller chunks more frequently. Thank heavens for www.flashcardexchange.com

Latin is probably the hardest, or driest, subject I’ve learned. The rewards don’t seem as evident nor as immediate as other courses I’ve taken. Still its a fun pursuit and I’m glad to be doing it this year. Another quiz coming up this week and the last sight passage after that. Can’t wait for christmas break to do more memory work on the vocabulary, keeping up with the memorization is my biggest challenge.

My goal is to learn Latin – well. What motivates me? The knowledge that I’m not taking French!
