I have been working as a freelance translator from home while looking after my little son. We’re going to start looking for a mortgage and I’ll probably have to take up a part-time job outside home, but I would still like to continue the translating.
If I set up as a sole trader when we move to Ireland, it will be a lot easier to offer myself for contracts, because I can then work for small companies too, just invoice them and pay the tax afterwards. Until then I can only work for big (Finnish) organisations with my freelancer tax card.
