learn to dance

i actually danced salsa last friday.
although ‘danced’ is a term used very loosely here.
just moved to a new town and-in an effort to not sit at home bored on the weekends-volunteered with the city museum for their summer concert series…little did i know they had live salsa music every friday nite with a dance floor and a huge undercover cuban population.
lucky for me, the guys just wanted to dance and were willing to teach me how—dragging me out on the floor against my will (you think i jest, and yet, this is not an exaggeration!)
i was actually-suprisingly-not too self conscious and had a really good time with it until a hottie grabbed me as i was leaving the dance floor to resume me ticket-stub-tearing responsibilities and asked-in all sincerity-if it hurt to move because i looked like i was in pain.
ouch.
he tried to remedy the problem and teach me “the proper way”, but alas, i failed miserably to pick it up and spent the remaining hour very self-concious and unable to really just have fun dancing.
sad, i know, but true
and not too bad for my first time :)
