I’ve become increasingly keen lately on the idea of ‘doing’ Europe. I haven’t started proper planning yet, but if I save hard I might be able to go by mid next year. I don’t want to do a quick tour – I want to spend quite a few weeks, sometimes months, in each country and sort myself out.
Where I want to go:
-Scotland/Ireland/UK! Might go there first, both to avoid the summer crowds in France/Italy etc, and maybe to work for a bit because it’ll be easier to work there than in non-English speaking countries when money gets tight.
-Espagne! I want to spend a good deal of time there, learn some Spanish, do some thinking.
-France: I have to revisit the country that baffled me so when I went for three months aged 15. I had a love/hate relationship with it then, but I’ve changed and I’m sure she has too, so I’m determined to ‘get’ France. Also, I speak the language fairly confidently, so that will certainly win me points when dealing with the locals. It will be tough, but I’m sure ultimately rewarding.
-Italy. Everyone says it’s stunning. I have to experience Italy. And I loooovve Italian food.
-Germany: I’ve met a lot of internationals at uni here in Australia, but I have to admit that Germans are my favourites. They are so much fun.
-Eastern Europe: Czech Republic!
-Scandinavia, etc.
I have only started thinking about this quite recently, and I’m only just starting to get some savings happening for the first time in my life. I’m determined to start living simply from today so that I can realise this goal, so here’s hoping. :D
