baby books 8 months ago

I am up to my eyeballs in baby books that have been given to me. Recent good reads are:
Girlfriends’ Guide to Pregnancy
Belly Laughs
and my current fave is Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth.

Met with the book club 23 months ago

I didn’t really get into The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao. I only got halfway, and now I’m starting school again so I don’t think I’ll be able to finish it right now. My next read will be Guys Write for Guys Read by Jon Scieszka. It’s for my masters program.

I joined a book club. 2 years ago

We are reading the Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao. We meet at the end of January. I can’t wait!

Back to School 2 years ago

My current read: Rethinking Schools, a collection of articles. So far the theme is multicultural and anti-bias education. Great stuff.

Eat, Pray, Love 2 years ago

The drunk, bearded man on the MUNI said, “That’s a chick book! You’re a chick! Look at your painted toenails! You’re a chick!” yes! yes, I am! So far I have only traveled to Italy with Elizabeth Gilbert, but since I am a chick and I LOVE Italy, I have enjoyed it quite a bit so far. (Oh! She has a nice writing style too!)

Abandoned book 2 years ago

Reading in Spanish is just not the same type of relaxing activity as it is in English, so I have abandoned En el tiempo de las mariposas for right now, and yesterday I bought Eat, Pray, Love, a book that has come with great recommendations. I can’t wait! I’m going to read it on the way home from class on the bus and NOT read my textbook.

How to Design and Evaluate Research in Education 2 years ago

back to reading for class, so my library book is collecting dust. boo.

Yippee! 2 years ago

I have been so excited to have time to read! I am reading In the Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez, but I am reading it in Spanish to meet the objective of two of my goals!

On May 18 2 years ago

I will be finished with the semester and I will spend several hours on a plane. I plan on beginning my reading FOR MYSELF. During winter break I read at least 4 books.

This time I am looking for a good book to read in Spanish first, then some other good English ones after that. Any suggestions? (The book in Spanish has to be a relatively light read.)
Thanks!
