To do
1. Create a literacy team
2. Determine highest priority needs
3. Write a 2 or 3-year plan to make improvements in literacy at our school
4. Celebrate when they all know how to read!

As a staff our school is taking on writer’s workshop, and I will lead the professional development. I’m a first-timer so wish me luck.
On Monday I’m planning on really getting some 4th graders to THINK about what they are reading!
Today I met with the new principal for two hours. I collected test-score data and I am ready to kick butt in schoolwide literacy improvement this year! Boo-yah! (Imagine me in a Ninja-like karate chopping stance.)
I’m not sure exactly how I ended up here, but literacy has become my life’s work. It’s great to love what you do and feel that what you do is important and makes a difference.
