I was not very hopeful for a while, but then I sent a follow up email and got an offer for an interview back! It’s on the first week of school. Looks like I might be a tutor this semester after all!

I got no email reply to my application. I’m going to email sometime next week to check on if they have received my application and rec letter. I was told that it wouldn’t be difficult to get the job :(. I’m worried. This job would be a really nice cushion.
After mauling over my essay for several weeks, I finally rearranged the paragraphs, added some sentences and sent it off. I’m actually really excited about this because – 1)It will be great to be earning money again! 2) I will finally have a job that I will like! Hopefully they like my geeky paragraph about the Reimann theory.
Since I probably will not have a paid internship this summer, I think I’m going to try to put a few signs up and see if I get get a client or two so I can earn a bit of extra cash. I’m also going to post on Craigslist.
I got an A on the final and an A on the exam! My prof was excited to be my reference now :). Now I just have to fill out the application and email them about what hours are good for them!
Today, I started my application for the math peer tutoring center. It’s a serious application.. it’s pretty much a page long essay about math and writing about math is a challenge to begin with. I’m going to come back to it after I’m done with finals because it wouldn’t be worth spending time on wifi don’t do well on my exam. So, I will concentrate on the exam for now.
I had a short meeting with my prof a few days ago. I wouldn’t say we “clicked”.. in fact, I don’t think we have anything further to discuss than whatever math homework problems I don’t understand. Oh well. In any case, he said that he will write me a rec letter if I continue to do well in his class. Works for me.
Next semester, I will sign up for tutoring Calculus through the honors college :D and also the Human Evolution class through our anthropology club. I’m really excited! I plan for it to be fairly low-commitment, low-time involvement, it’s volunteering after all, but I’ve never officially done tutoring before so I’m excited to try it out.
I’m wary of tutoring online.. and I tried to sign up before but I didn’t pass the tests o.o. Anyway… I’m thinking of being an Intro Psych or Intro Anthro tutor at my school. In fact, I’m thinking of posting signs up at the local center for that. Also.. even though it’s my goal to brush up on my Russian, I am fluent conversationally.. so I could tutor for that too.
