been so tempted to give up on this goal. I’m up to my eyeballs in grannies and some of them are doing my nut in.
But they do both open up new worlds for me. One is trussing up turkey with head on (or neck, cos I made the butcher take it off), and no I don’t have a darning needle for trussing purposes, and making floral decorations – but she relates fascinating old war stories; while the other is stripping wallpaper, while texting her mates all the time about Strictly Come Dancing, and no I don’t have English TV or bbc streaming nor do I know who ‘Mark’ is – but she relates fascinating modern world stories.
I wonder what sort of grannie I’d be.
I’m not quite ready to give up this goal. Give me a few more days and things may be quite different, mind.

just isn’t happening. I’m sure if I devote half my planning skills to sorting this one out, the rest would fall into place.

Possibly I was ‘grannied out’ a bit when we had the 90th birthday and the 96 year old had one too many and ended up in hospital in January. And then there was the mother in law visit (yes Bruno I could probably rant for hours – when are we meeting?!) in February.
But old people are great. There are some really old people around and they are so wise. Even though they drive me round the twist sometimes, there is still this big place in my heart for the oldies, and I know they do me good.
Smallish doses. That’s the secret.
