Cleared out the storage area in Seattle and now have been clearing out fabrics etc. from the house.
Thinking the ideal way to do this is to target one closet or one part of a room at a time and just work on it daily.
Someone said that if you just spend 10 minutes a day in an area, eventually, you’ll clear out every space without getting too bogged down in the process.
Thinking that’s a great idea!
Also thinking that purging is good for mental health and it is also a sign of better mental health. That I don’t have to “hold on to” things. I’m more confident and more ok with not just having things for a sense of security.

For the last 2 days I’ve cleared and shred two huge stacks of paper. Where the heck does all this paper come from any way?
Yesterday I was talking with a friend and he asked me if I had a “clutter issue”. I told him, oh man, if you only knew….couldn’t believe I admitted it, but it’s true. I have so much crap that I don’t have room for it.
This has now become a pretty major goal for me on my vacation time for the next few weeks.
I’m working on in Artist’s Way asked how I’m “mean” to myself. Discovered that one way I’m mean to myself is that I don’t provide a clean, bright, organized place to do my art work.
I have a spare room in the back of the house that would be perfect, but it’s so full of “stuff” that I don’t even use the room any more except as storage.
Want to clear that space out, put in a hardwood floor (or at least one that looks like it) get a great rug, add some shelves and a fantastic sound system, some tables and a great chair, hang my photos and the art work I’ve collected in my travels up on the wall.
I have pottery from my travels in europe, I’d love to find places for that too. I’d like it to be MY room. A place for only me…
calling this goal “make space” is more motivating than thinking of making over the spare room into a study.
Making space makes me think of clearing out the old to make room for the new. Creating a study out of the spare room makes me think of work.
my friend has his office set up and how he uses the space.
Will definately have to work on this goal again now that I have a better sense of what I can do with my spare room.
He’s got loads of space which I know I could as well. The advantage he has is that he doesn’t have to deal with a closet. I’d love to make the closet in that room into a huge bookshelf. Just take off the doors and leave the shelving up but add some more shelves. That’d be awesome.
Got to get rid of the stuff I don’t use! This goal is moving up in priority.
Today I’ve cleared out a ton of stuff including some old software manuals that I’m had around for 6 years and never used.
Shred a bunch of old mail and got rid of some file folders that were tatty.
Making good progress on this goal.
