Have succumbed and am joining a writing group where we read out our ideas and get critically analysed. So I’m freaking out and a bit excited.

Writing a novel is like being told to fight a monster but the descriptors of this so-called monster are so vague that you sometimes dunno what it looks like and where it lives. Ok so this probably makes no sense but I was writing with excitement until I did a little research on the subject(4400 words later mind you)and I realised that the story lacks depth and I need to do more research- and here I was thinking that writing was like riding a bicycle a few bumps and scratches and then you’re on your way. But alas it’s more like mountain biking an unknown trail- even if you do know how to mountain bike it’ll still suprise you. I guess that’s why I love books and attempting to write one.
I had a moment of clarity this Monday. It was really uexpected. I took out my laptop and I just started typig anything. So much has happened in the last few months. I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis had to go get a lumbar puncture and put on steroids but it turns out that it was actually a viral infection to my brain- which is actually a good thing.
It’s been a while since I tried to write and I’ve decided not to judge my work and just go with it. So it’s been three days 3081 words later and I’m still going. It’s a start right?
I don’t know how I found out about it on the web but I did but I suggest people read ‘On writing’ by Stephen King. It’s amazing and he’s so funny and I’ve been so inspired. Find it, read it write.
So I’ve been very counterproductive this whole time and I have decided to do something ore else I’m going to look back and regret all this. So it’s going to be a fantasy book so it means having to, on top of creating characters, creating worlds, cultures, etc. I bought to pin uip boards: one for the chapter layouts and the other for questions of who the characters are where they live and what are their cultures are. I basically put a question mark against everything and I know that before I can even begin writing I have to solve this rubiks cube. So I hope that I don’t give up like I usually do.
Wish me luck
Ps: does anyone have any helpful ideas on how you would set up to create a fantasy book?
Thanks
