In 11th grade, so 8-9 years ago. In the lower grades, physical fitness was emphasized, but, I guess at the high school level, they decided that if you weren’t in good physical shape by then, you probably would never be (I was in horrible physical shape in H.S.; I’ve improved since then). So we were permitted to do all sorts of unusual, but not terribly physically demanding activities (at least as they were practiced in gym class), such as archery, badminton, and yoga.
Yoga consisted of my gym teacher putting on a yoga video, turning off the lights, and coming back in a half hour to tell us all to change for our next class. And really, to wake us up, because half of us would fall asleep on the mats. I think the video they used was really basic because I didn’t find any of the moves difficult at all. I also think this is probably best-suited to having a real teacher who can correct breathing, posture, etc. I was probably doing a lot of things wrong and didn’t even know…
