make a sock monkey

I decided that since it’s almost Valentine’s Day, I’m going to use a pair of pink, red, and white heart-patterned socks for my first monkey. And I found a pattern online at http://www.craftbits.com/viewProject.do?projectID=1104. So I’m ready as soon as I’m done moving this weekend!

If he is cute enough, maybe I will give him to someone for Valentine’s Day. I was thinking I could put a bit of catnip inside and make it a cat toy, but on second thought, my cats could probably tear right through a sock.

I am a girl who LOVES her socks! I’m talking monkeys and cows, palm trees and pina coladas, every color of the rainbow, the brighter and sillier, the better. They’re under jeans and shoes, so only I know they’re there, and they put a smile on my face. Why not have fun with them?

I am always so sad when one of my favorite pairs finally wears out and starts getting holey… so I think sock monkeys will be the perfect solution for keeping my favorites once they’re past their prime. I will just have to have the foresight to stop wearing them before they actually get holes, because nobody wants a holey monkey!
