Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Go go go

Today I am going to get on it. I intend to finish my book, write an essay and start to research contextual influences on lit. throughout the ages.

I have a university interview in 3 days.

I’m having a crisis – I just got my English coursework mark back and it’s nothing like what I was hoping for, my art and French exams are in two weeks, I feel like I’m drowning in impossible deadlines. I don’t know what to do, everywhere I turn there just seems to be a mountain of work. Help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help help

getting better

this half term I did all of my set work with loads of time to spare – this hasn’t happened since about 2003!

yes!

I was jus chillin on the internet when I remembered that I needed to do my English homework, and instead of ignoring it and waking up tomorrow full of regret and annoyance I GOT UP OFF MY CHAIR, I FETCHED MY ENGLISH FOLDER AND I DID THE WORK. Result.

failurrrre

I went to a parents evening today and my teachers absolutely crucified me. I hate being so disorganised, everybody either thinks I hate school, or that my brain is decaying inside my head and I am struggling to cope with work.

new year

One of my resolutions is to meet deadlines – this year I’m going to make it happen.

I’m not going to write lists any more, they don’t help. Instead I’m going to start everything I think I need to do as soon as possible.

Oh my

I completely forgot about this website – the last time I posted something was in June…
I’ve got a lot better at doing my work on time. I have one essay that I haven’t handed in yet, a leaflet aout triglycerides which is late and a few exam questions to do, but that isn’t bad at all.
I didn’t get the grades I wanted at AS level, so I’m going to be doing a retake in January. I know it is entirely my own fault, and it has made me more determined to improve.
I’m going to get on with my essay. That is all.

Getting better

Today I replied to a babysitting request as soon as I saw it, I also wrote a list of things I need to buy before my duke of edinburgh expedition, and unpacked my suitcase as soon as I got home. Then I had more time to speak to my friend on the phone about our holiday in the summer, read and chill in the sun instead of hiding indoors trying to force myself to get things done. Ahhh. Tomorrow is my first day back at school after study leave, I wonder if I can keep this up when I start getting homework again?

I’ve finished all of my exams, and I’m not procrastinating because I have nothing to put off. No work, no school – I’m still on study leave until the 14th, so I don’t have to worry about anything for a week. I’m going to do whatever I like, this must be better for the soul than yoga.
