Adopt a baby

I had a foster child in my class, and I decided to adopt her instead. She is eight now, and I’m so glad I did it!

Ever since I was a kid, I took it for granted that I would grow up, get married and have a few kids (or more). Interestingly, the husband was always sort of a side note; I was always more interested in being a mom than a wife, but I certainly viewed marriage as a prerequisite to having a family. Well, time passes, and I’ve watched my friends marry and start families, and now their children are off to school, participating in scouts and soccer and all the other things that are part of kids’ lives these days, and I’m left feeling, frankly, that a whole lot of life has passed me by.
I love my job, I have good friends, but the one thing I want more than anything is a family of my own. As much as I would love to find a soul mate, I’m not sure its in the cards, but I just can’t give up on the dream of parenthood. So I’m in the process of adopting a little girl from China or Vietnam. I was leaning strongly towards China, but as wait times get longer and longer, I’ve started considering Vietnam. I’ll have to post more as the process continues. right now I’m in the early stages!
