for the first time in 6 weeks, and we just pretended that that was normal. One or two of her friends are terminally ill, and it’s good to know that she’s OK, and making the most of life; trying to learn to use a computer – I think shel’ll love it – and going on yet another seaside holiday.

I phoned Chris, but now I need to phone Mum and Martin. Maybe Tony if I feel OK
I have just spent the last hour or so on the phone to my mum getting all the fallout from her trip to Leeds. I also came clean about Rosemary taking Florence to Edinburgh. However, I am the good girl at the moment so she let it pass.
and we got on very well. It was just long enough, I think, because I had really run out of ways to entertain him. We had a big family get-together for Easter Sunday and that was good fun. We played Balderdash in the garden and Chris enjoyed it a lot. He doesn’t do much family life. Stan liked Chris because Chris is very funny and does brilliant impressions, and they got on fine.
a bit is called Chris. He is handicapped. He lives a few hundred miles away so it’s not easy to look aftre him at all, and before he separated from his wife it was not even necessary. But he is coming down for Easter. The idea was that we would spend some time with Mum on Easter Monday. I know she was looking forward to that. But sadly, because my uncle has died, my Mum is spending time in Leeds, and can’t be back then. However, we are both going to my uncle’s funeral. So that will be a sort of get together.
and we didn’t chat much but I told her I would bring Chris to see her on Easter Monday and she was very very pleased.
and she behaved very badly to my husband, basically taking offence over nothing and yelling and being very bitter with him.
She tried to make it up with me without saying sorry, but she owes him an apology. My mother hates my husband. But she hates everybody she didn’t actually give birth to.
to my brother Chris. We tracked him down this Christmas. He has split up with his nice kind wife, because he is a lazy bloke who does nothing but smoke dope and drink beer, and she wanted him to do more positive things.
Nice kind Rachel is still doing his washing for him.
Mum of course, is v upset that Chris never phoned to say that his marriage had broken up.
Hopeless family.
and we had a jolly chat, very long, she is fine. She is still v excited about the DVD player and going to find excellent DVDs to buy and borrow. She particularly wanted “Anaffair to remember” with Cary Grant, and tracked it down in HMV. Oh, they have LOADS there, they have everything, she said, I’ve never been in there before.
Mother’s horizens so expanded!
