but I haven’t been at all committed to it – you need a sense of mission.

especially, I’d like to use my car less. This week I have only cycled once because I wimp out at the first sign of rain.
We have had a solar panel installed on the roof. On a warm day, the water temperature is fantastic – and all from the sun! However, it doesn’t work on cloudy days or at night, of course. But it takes very little electricity to top up the heat of the water. Ideally we’d get another solar panel and get solar central heating. Though judging by the first solar panel, it would helping along. Very little solar power is collected on cloudy days.
As for food, I am taking an interest in where food is grown, an choosing food that is produced in the UK as much as possible. It is ridiculous how beans are flown in from Kenya and other African countries. We can grow beans in the UK: and they should be available all summer.
My son brought in some information from school about bananas and how they are farmed. The growers are poorly paid and the crop is fertilised by spraying – toxic for the workers. I was quite shocked. I think it is really important to buy not just fair trade bananas, but organic bananas.
I’m looking forward to trading information with other people active in this goal.
Have a good day!!!
