My especial gratitude for Stan’s retreat at Worth Abbey being a success. He felt he made new friends and got in touch with God. More people know him now. They describe him as relaxed and friendly, but one girl has got his number; she called him “lost”. If only one of these nice strong girls would take him over and help him find himself!!

I’m grateful for my loyal and motivated students.

I’m grateful for good colleagues.

I’m grateful for hope for the future.

I’m grateful for a good haircut last Friday.

Irregular gratitude  — 11 months ago

I should be more consistent with this. It’s bad that gratitude geets pushed to the back of one’s consciousness in the rush to complete all the tasks of the day.

1. I’m really grateful that my body will still do all the exercises in the Jane Fonda video which I have been doing, off and on, for about 25 years.

2. I’m grateful for a friend who has offered me an interview with her company on Monday, for a full-time job.

3. I’m grateful for the company of other mums who I run into from time to time, e.g. Sue Eacott.

4. I’m grateful for my daydreaming mind which lets me imagine happy things which I need to see as possibilites.

5. I’m grateful for romantic music, the blues, jazz and the big band sound. Also people who can really sing! (I can’t)

I did this a lot yesterday  — 11 months ago

1. God is good to me. I am a believer: after living in doubt and an educated scepticism since University, I had a baby, and it changed my perception of the world. Even if it had been a very handicapped baby I would have felt the same way about it; it was a brand new life and it was wonderful! Miraculous! Holy and not my own doing!

2. Wuite out of the blue last week Susie came and persuaded me to face my fear instead of running away from it, and she was just the person to do that because she has this fear of flying which she has been trying to overcome for years.

3. My friend Jane e-mailed with encouragement and jokes. Should she pray to Jude, saint of lost causes? Or Katherine, patron saint of teachers and things that go round and round?

4. My students at Level 2 are lovely and interested and ALL showed up.

5. A former fellow trainee e-mailed with news of a possible new job, and revealed she had also needed to repeat teaching observations.

6. My “colleagues” on 43 things are also really supportive and I’m grateful for them.
