Got rid of a big box of kitchen stuff we don’t use recently. Also a coffee pot and microwave. One of my bf’s coworkers just moved here from out of state and has just about nothing…so hopefully I can get rid of some furnishings too. I have a leather loveseat and a recliner in mind! It’s fairly easy to get my bf to part with things we don’t need if he knows someone else that needs it! Otherwise it’s impossible, so I’m going to take full advantage of this opportunity while it’s here!
We have a roommate now and may be renting out our big room eventually….OR moving to the big room and renting out our current bdrm. That will require getting rid of a lot of stuff.
I’ve decided to give up on selling second hand clothing and such on eBay. It served me well in the past, but for the past month or so I haven’t been able to sell a damn thing…so I have about 5 garbage bags of clothing ready to go to the thrift store.

Space bags are amazing! 17 months ago

We bought some for Bill’s collection of gaudy thrift store clothes that he refuses to part with….had a large plastic storage bin filled. Put it all into a space bag and placed it into the storage bin….and there’s room for 3 more of them!!! So I need to buy more for storage of my fabrics and clothes I plan to modify / reconstruct. Also for storage of curtains and seasonal clothing. Really great! I didn’t think that they would work so well, but I was wrong.

I have a bag of clothing, towels, and fabric ready to go. Also 2 old blenders, a salad spinner, and some other kitchen stuff. Now I just need to get them out of here somehow. Also have a small box of papers / junk mail to recycle.

Bill’s parents offered to take back their plants. I have mixed feelings. They’re pretty large plants…I mean, we have a friggin tree in our living room! They take up A LOT of space. But I like the tree…and the jade plant in the back room…and the flowering cactus. I don’t care too much for the jade plant in my office, and I guess I can bear to part with the tree. But the other 2 would just be…heartbreaking. hahaha. Just kidding, I’d get over it.
Bill cleaned up the garage. Didn’t get rid of everything yet…though we did find a new home for his grandma’s table and chair set. Maybe this weekend we’ll get rid of the rest. There’s 2 old air conditioning units, 2 broken TVs, a really super old computer monitor…tons of old paint cans, and various other junk.
I’ve sold about 1/4 of my CD collection and have started preparations for disposing of scratched CDs and other office junk through Green Disc.
A friend also took 2 bags of old clothes to the thrift store for me a couple weeks ago.
Got rid of some paper clutter today. Still a lot more to go. I’m thinking that from now on, instead of keeping bills/bank statements etc, I should just scan them to the computer

Well…I’ve gotten rid of a lot. But have also aquired a lot… accidently of course. I swear…everyone who knows us must think of our house as a dumping ground for the stuff they no longer want! My Mom gives me her clothes to sell on Ebay…which is good since I can make okay money off of her recent stuff. BUT she loaded me up with things I simply cannot sell. Soooo….I gave her a grocery bag full of various cosmetic products I don’t use, returned all her board games (which I have not used… not once!) and am planning on dropping off her record collection this weekend.
Bill brought home ANOTHER computer moniter…along with a leather sofa which he gave to a friend quite some time ago. The friend decided to give it back. He also ended up with tons of crap from his brother who recently moved into a tiny house. Some hanging lamps, a large TV, small fishtank, some kind of ship knick knack thing…which is kinda large…various other stuff, I’m sure.
Somehow we also ended up with part of his sister’s cassette tape collection. I sold about 95% of it.
The sewing machine that his mother set aside before he closed on the house stopped working…and I’m not sure what to do with it. Technically it’s not mine, so I would feel bad selling or otherwise disposing of it. I guess I could just give it to her to do what she wants with. Otherwise I’ll end up putting it in the attic. Uhhhhh….went through tons of paper clutter today. Filled 1.5 paper grocery bags. One day I will clutter free! Hopefully some day soon….

I spent the weekend at a camp in the Adirondacks. Nice place…devoid of clutter. Aside from furnishings and a few knick nacks and wall hangings, the place was empty. They had cable TV, which I don’t have…so I spent a lot of time watching it (since I was alone during the days). The first show I watched was Clean Sweep…got a little inspiration from that. Since the weather is not ideal, I won’t be able to move everything outside. So…I’m going to do things room by room. Move everything to one corner then place each thing in the appropriate piles.
Unfortunately, a yard sale will not happen. We were supposed to have one early last month but the plans changed. Sooo, anything in the “sell” piles (that I can’t auction online) will have to go into storage boxes.

My boyfriend’s sister just picked up some stuff to drop off at a thrift store…I thought she’d be overwhelmed by how much we had to get rid of…but she had just as much, if not more! Anyway…got rid of 5 garbage bags filled with clothing, bedding, curtains, etc.
1 small box filled with old books
1 small box filled with kitchen items…cups mostly.
Still have TONS to discard, but I didn’t want to send her off with too much at once.
We’re supposed to be having a yard sale in a couple weeks. Hopefully that will elimate everything else!

Things to get rid of:
*Bags of clothes (and curtains, blankets, etc) that I cannot sell
*Cosmo and other boring mainstream women’s magazines
*CD cases that are missing the cd’s (maybe I can use them to make something…perhaps paint them and make decorative boxes to store stuff in)
*A plethora of boring shot glasses / wine glasses / etc.
*That huge box of old books, and all books that I’ve read but will probably never ever read again.
*All paper clutter
*Cosmetic items I’ll never use
*Ancient kitchen utensils and appliances that should have been out of here before we moved in
*Sewing stuff that I’ll never use
*costume jewelry I don’t wear
*cassette tapes

Come up with “maximums” on how many items I can own. For instance, “I can only have 4 pairs of jeans at a time. Cannot buy new ones until I’ve gotten rid of a pair”
