Looking for my ideal format... — 4 months ago
I used to write poetry and was “good” (published), but I wanted to switch over to short stories after a writing class that I had. I’ve been starting short stories left and write, and I’m not sure it’s the thing for me. However, I did write a play while in the class that was impressive, and really fun for me. So I think, perhaps, all of my ideas would be better expressed in play or screenplay format.
Right now I have a really interesting idea that I’m pretty fixated on. The only thing that I don’t love is the idea that a lot of the beauty of writing is taken away. I truly believe that you just need to be creative to write a screenplay, and no master of words. I really have been in love with words my whole life, and it’s a shame when I have to describe actions and write dialogue and keep away from the poetry of description and thought.
At any rate…I’m on page 3, and thank you cybyers…the link has been useful.
I’m not writing this screenplay expecting anything big of it, I’m actually writing it for a few friends who make independent films, and are really still amateurs. In fact, I will probably play a role in the film when they shoot it. But, perhaps it’s good that we’re all starting out together.
Lissa.
