write a song

today I wrote like 5 different great chord progressions on piano. Nothing that really fit together, no lyrics, but maybe in time.

I think they were good enough just as chillin piano pieces.

and I was playing chords and just singing over top of it in the vocal style of chris martin. It seemed to be working. I’m going to try again today, and hopefully we’ll have a song.

...I just can’t seem to pull everything together. I’ve just been waiting for something to come to me for so long. But everything that I record bugs me. I eventually find something poor about all of the songs I come up with and usually it’s expired before the idea has even matured.

Often times I will take an idea, overanalyse it, and by the 15th time I’ve heard it, I’m sick of it. But without that analysing the songs sound too rough. I feel the need to round them out.

I’m hoping my experiments in meditation and developing my visual imagination will spill over into this aspect of my creativity, and help me unlock a moving song.
