Maybe more lifestyle than religion 3 years ago

I think maybe I should focus more on a positive way to live, because I know what I believe. I have created a short list of my rules to live by and basic practices:

Do unto others as you would have done unto you: You can’t go wrong with the Golden Rule. This goes hand in with ‘practice random acts of kindness.’

Bloom where you are planted: make the most of the cards you are dealt and continually give thanks for the blessings.

Accept what you cannot change

(from the Four Agreements:)
Be Impeccable With Your Word: Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.

Don’t Take Anything Personally: Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.

Don’t Make Assumptions: Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness, and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

Always Do Your Best: Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse, and regret.

Kind of glad to see that I’m not the only one in this boat, but at the same time sad to know that others feel this lost.

I was raised Christian, went to Christian and Catholic Schools, and in general, I still consider myself a Christian. Despite the fact that I “feel” Christian, I have very liberal (basically un-Christian) views and opinions. I think that the Bible was a great book, but its stories weren’t meant to be taken literally. I think that everyone can go to paradise, no matter what church they go to. I think the odds are pretty good that the streets won’t be gold, because those are man’s ideals – not God’s. I support the rights of homosexuals. I don’t think that world disasters and disease are ‘punishment’ – I don’t believe God is that petty. I think that everyone should be loved and embraced for who they are, no matter how different that is.

I believe that God would have never made us all so different, if he really wanted us all to be the same.
