My husband and I agreed quite awhile back, since we’re both philosophers, that we’d go where ever the better job offer is. The likelihood of both of us getting tenure-track teaching positions in philosophy in the same area is quite slim. Anyways, he landed a very nice tenure-track position in Colorado, so we’ve decided to take it. Moving this summer.

I’ve had some phone interviews. Am waiting to hear back from at least two of the schools. Feeling like a loser in this battle. Will try to keep my chin up.
I’ve put out around 30 applications and more will be mailed in the next month or two. I’m also trying to do spend some time every weekday doing some research and writing. My goal is to send an article, worthy of publication, to a journal some time before the year end.
Had a phone interview this afternoon with four professors. Lasted 40 minutes. Felt pretty good about it. We’ll see if I get invited for a campus visit.
I’m teaching summer school. After teaching each day, I remain at school for nearly two hours, for office hours and research. I’m going to work on an article for publication. Perhaps that will make me more marketable. I have NO idea what I’m doing in terms of writing a publishable article.
I somehow don’t think I’ll be landing a tenure-track teaching position in Philosophy for the 2007-2008 academic year. Huge bummer. Better luck for the following academic year, I suppose.
Perhaps the Lord wants us to stay here another year. We have both been offered another one-year full-time lectureship position here. That’s a rarity, considering we’re both in the field of Philosophy. If we got a tenure-track position, in all likelihood, it would be for only one of us. Living on two incomes, instead of one, might be better or might make life easier while we have a little one. Only time will tell.
The application I submitted most recently was not in vain. This afternoon, I got a call from the Department Chair of the Religion and Philosophy Department. Looks like I have a phone interview the day after tomorrow. Yippee!
I applied for a tenure track position in philosophy for a school in South Carolina. The position was reposted just after Valentine’s Day. Don’t know my chances of getting that job, but it’s a perfect fit for me, in terms of specialty and the sort of school where I’d like to teach. We’ll see what happens.
i found out, less than 2 hours ago, when i checked my e-mail that i have an interview for a tenure-track position at the apa (american philosophical association) eastern division meeting, on december 28th. this year, the meeting is in washington, d.c.
ohmygosh, that’s coming up really fast. don’t have plane tickets. wasn’t even planning to go to the conference. my parents are coming in for christmas. then a good friend of mine is coming in from england on the 28th.
i’m ever thankful that i even have an interview. lots of preparation to do and so little time!
