i learned how to play Free Falling by Tom Petty. Another easy song, i know, but fun. then i also broke my e string so i went out and bought a new one and attempted to put it on myself. of course i broke it :P I was following the instructions in my Guitar for Dummies book, hehe…but I couldn’t get the string to stay wrapped. I’d get it most of the way wrapped around and then it would all fly off again. Maybe I should take my guitar to Guitar Center and have someone there show me what to do, since I bought it there. I wonder if they’ll do that. When i was at the store i knew i should’ve bought more than 1 string cos i knew i was going to probably break it, but for some odd reason that’s all i bought anyway. i was also going to buy a capo, but i was too broke. next paycheck hopefully.

walking with a ghost 2 years ago

well, i taught myself how to play “Walking with a Ghost” by Tegan and Sara. it’s pretty easy really. like i’m not perfect at switching each chord, but i learned it quicker than i’ve learned other songs. therefore, i think my left hand has gotten a lot faster and more coordinated.
i want to buy a Ramones songbook. i figure their songs would be good to learn as a beginner. most of them can’t be too complex.

I need lessons 2 years ago

Well, I’ve been teaching myself how to play guitar since January of 2006. My roommate found a guitar in the trash (go figure!) so we took it to get fixed and I’ve been trying to learn ever since. I got myself one of those Guitar for Dummies books. It’s been helpful so far, but I think I really ought to get lessons in order to really see improvement and to make sure I’m getting the correct techniques down. I started taking lessons with this girl, but unfortunately my funds have been so low that I’ve had to take a hiatus from it. I’m hoping that soon I’ll get a new job that pays more and I’ll be able to start the lessons up again. Until then, I’ve just been trying to play for a 1/2 hour to an hour a few times a week. I kind of think that I’m far behind where I should be though for having been practicing for more than a year. I sometimes wonder if my hands aren’t equipped for it. My fingers often shake somewhat so it can be hard for me to land them on the right strings every time. I don’t care though. I’m going to keep on trying and get past this bit of a handicap. It may not even be hampering me, it may just be that I suck ass cos I’m still new, regardless of the year or so I’ve been practicing, hehe…
