Get a passport

So fast, I cannot believe it! It took less than 2 weeks. I am stunned. But it’s here and I can close this goal out. Was it worth it? Definitely! Was it a pain in the rear to get? Yes, sort of time-consuming and not cheap. But I’m set for 10 years. Now if I win a big trip to Cancun or something, I’m good to go! Thanks 43 Things!

What a great day – I made the time and went down to the registration office and it is DONE! All paperwork submitted, pictures and all. All ID’s verified, oath sworn, “i’s” dotted and “t’s” crossed. Now I wait. I’m really happy I did this FINALLY and will have a passport I don’t have to renew for 10 years. I’ll post when it arrives and then I can CLOSE this Thing for good!

Ok, I broke down and got the passport picture today and I’m slightly ticked off about it. The picture is fine, really, but I don’t think it is close enough. It is supposed to be one inch measured from top of the head to the chin – I’m lucky if this is 3/4 of an inch. I think it’s way too small and if I get there and get any flack over this, I’m going to scream. Plus it was more than $13 for two pictures, which is a complete rip-off. Ok, I’m done venting for the moment. Why can’t a person just take their own pics? It’s a scam, I tell you!

I got my copy of birth certificate, proof that I really do exist. LOL!

Paperwork downloaded, check!
Paperwork all filled out, check!
Two pieces of official identification, check!
Address and office hours of application location, check!
Passport photos…passport photos…ugh. Not yet.

...of my birth certificate. Should be here in about 2 weeks, maybe a little longer. I AM going to finish this goal and have that little jewel in my hands before September!

Baby steps…I think it’s the picture that is making me drag my feet. I hate having my picture taken.

Or more accurately, my DH has been bugging me about this for years. And now that we need one just to go to Canada, I’m going to make it a priority to get it done this year. Maybe once I have it, I’ll be inspired to travel more!
