I definitely do this, and I need to stop. I feel like it makes me look weak and responsible for bad things, when I am neither. I apologize for little misunderstandings, for things don’t require an apology, etc. Then, sometimes, I apologize for saying sorry when someone tells me there’s no need to be sorry. I think that maybe some of this comes from my childhood, where keeping the peace and having someone to blame for bad things were really important (and really related). I think that’s when I started the “I’m sorry” thing. So this might be a hard habit to break. . . .
