I’ve been making sure I look up words I’m not certain I know the definition of. The web makes it really easy to do that, since I’m sat at a computer most of the day.
I also have a desk calendar that has a new word each day, but the words there are either obvious to me, or far too obscure to be useful: not much in the middle ground!

I’ve put the Dictionary.com word of the day on my start page and that’s introducing me to new words and also reminding me about words I forgot I knew. It’s a good way to move words from my passive vocabulary to my active vocabulary. I also pay attention to well-chosen words when I’m reading more than I did previously.
