Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

practice discardia

lisainthesky has written 3 entries about this goal

the plan...

is to tackle one room/are at a time…next will be the downstairs toilet and laundry…total scrub out and getting rid of any junk that is broken/not needed/can be recycled…i think i can get this done over the weekend…

other things on the list…a brush up in the kitchen once we get a new oven (i went through it not long ago, so it just needs a little bit of work)...convince my b/f to get rid of the old couch that we dont use (or put it in the shed)...the other spare room (very big job)...the landing above the stairs (all the painting supplies have just been dumped here after a painting spree)...i wont add anymore for now…ill try and get through these things before i start overloading myself with things to do

one room almost done...

i went bunta on the spare room in the past 2 days, and its nearly done…
i put all the magazines in the recycle, threw out the yucky pillows (that no sane person would consider using), threw out the old faded curtain and replaced it with a beautiful new one…

i cleaned out the cobwebs, cleaned the lampshade, the fan, vacuumed, cleaned the bed linen and made it all nice…just a few things left to pick up on the floor, and the other single bed in there needs to have sheets put on it…

just need to call the council to organise a hard rubbish collection to get rid of some of the junk that i threw in the other spare room…

...

i stumbled across this on 43things, what a great idea, and way to go the girl that invented it. its spreading thats 4 sure.

ive started applying some principles around my house already, even though its not technically the right time of year.

now this may sound totally stupid and i may be totally off here, but does being in the southern hemisphere affect the time frames of discardia??? if anyone knows, please let me know…
