I finished Citizen Kane(1941) today
My personal theory on Rosebud? Well I’m sure every one noticed at the end of the movie Rosebud was the name on the sled that was given to him as a child by the man who took him away from his family. Well, through out the whole movie every one said that Kane only wanted love from others, and never wanted to give any one love. The first time he said Rosebud was when his second wife left him, saying that he was willing to buy her the world but all she wanted was his love. Wasn’t that what the sled was when it was given to him? A man’s pathetic attempt to make a boy forget his old family and love his new family? Ah ha! Kane had become Mr. Thatcher, buying for everyone’s love.
