to read for fun. Our tiny town doesn’t have enough books to really satisfy my browsing passion, so this was a good excuse to go to the big town’s library and grab a handful of promising looking books. Since in CT you can return library books at any library (not just where you checked them out), this strategy works really well.
Thanks for a good time Rosie! ;-D

And duh, I’m about a chapter in and I know I’ve read it before. Silly me. The real idiocy is that I, as I’ve discussed in other postings, can’t remember the plot, except about 2 minutes before I read it. So I’ll go ahead and read this one too.
Of course if publishers would get a little more variety in their covers, I wouldn’t have this problem. I mean, look at the cover of this book- you could slap any old romance title on it. No wonder I can’t recall which romances I’ve read. Sheesh.

Ok. I’ve finished Educating Caroline. The plot and characters and dialogue were a ton of fun, and the historical setting didn’t inhibit any of that. More sex than I recalled (but as discussed elsewhere, I read fast enough that I’m often surprised by the plot in a second read through). I’ve got at least one other historical romance to read before I consider myself to have fulfilled my responsibility here. (And hey, it’s a self serving goal. I’m just stretching my interests a little.)

I have read this one before. But, as with many books that I read too quickly, I don’t remember it clearly. I’m enjoying it, but keep getting interrupted (plane flights with toddlers are really not great for reading), so I’m struggling with remembering where I am (I also misplaced my bookmark). I picked up several more at the library and I’m psyched to have some time off from work to do some leisure reading. It’s also helpful in reminding me of what aspects of romances I really want to incorporate into my novel.

I’m done with this one, but it didn’t persuade me to switch my reading habits. So I’ll look for another one while I’m on vacation. (It wasn’t bad, I just skimmed the last few pages when tired, which is a sure sign that Romantic Rose can write a better one.)

I managed to leave the book downstairs when I went to bed last night. Otherwise I wouldn’t be up now (at 5:30) because I would’ve stayed up to finish it.
I should acknowledge that I read quickly and this goal is not a big time commitment for me. No one who would like to support Romantic Rose should feel badly about turning the other cheek if it interferes with real priorities.

I’m in the midst of a Regency (?) romance called Seducing Mr Heywood. I’m enjoying it quite a bit so far, even though it’s out of my normal genre of romance. So I think this is valid proof that it’s a genre worth keeping- good, funny, escapist fiction is always worth publishing.
