go to a drive-in movie

One of the bands I sing in had a gig in Dromana yesterday, and on the way there, we drove past the Dromana drive-in. So I nearly got to go to the drive-in, lol. It was daytime, so nothing was happening there at the time, but it looked really cool – the entrance gate looked like something out of the 1950’s. So close, but yet so far…

I would love to go to a drive-in. I’ve never been. My mum always tells me about the drive-ins she went to in the 60’s, how they used to all hide in the trunk and one person would drive in, pay for the one ticket, and then once they were out of sight, everyone’d jump out of the trunk,lol.

Apparently there are still some around near where I am. Now all I need is the car. If no car, well, my city also runs this thing in summer where they show films in the park. From what I’ve read, it’s like a drive-in, but with no cars. Everyone sits on the grass, like a night-picnic with a giant movie screen…
