Write more

Woo, go me. A friend has been posting writing prompts on her journal and they’ve been quite inspirational. So far I’ve got two different pieces in the works, but I want that to go up to three—I have a piece on the back burner that I want to get moving again.

Does anyone have any online writing circles or groups (email-lists, etc.) that they can recommend? I generally write sci-fi/fantasy stuff, with some plain old fiction thrown in for variety. I would prefer a group that does critiques and general feedback (for instance: ‘I like this that and the other thing; I understood that thing, but I can’t figure out thing X. Explain, please?’ or ‘I hated it, but that’s because I can’t stand anything involving elves. Elves give me hives.’)

I’ve tried the Fantasy_Writers group on Yahoo, but… Well, suffice it to say that the emails sent to the group did not fill me with joy nor the desire to read their actual works of fiction.

There are enough people with this particular goal on their lists that I’m sure we could start our own writing circle/group/list/whatever you wanna call it, too.
