Too hilarious. Just taught myself the sign for crazy. What’s too wonderful is the fact that there are two versions of crazy in ASL. One is the typical pointer finger at temple/ear area, making those cuckoo circles that almost everyone knows. The other is doing it with a claw hand…almost like saying…yeah, really crazy. Like loony. Which is why I wanted to learn the word, for when I’m feeling crazy and have to apologize or admit it. So the claw hand version, with a crazy facial expression, seem PERFECT! I love sign language!

Just learned the sign for pacifier…I’m going to start using it with my baby so that I get some practice in. The “baby signs” pacifier sign is not the same as ASL. I think I’ll stick with ASL because ultimately, I want to learn that language and realistically, I’m not using it so I can run around talking to babies…I’m using it so one day I can converse freely with someone who is hearing impaired.
You might say…when is the word pacifier going to come up in casual conversation with an adult hearing impaired person. Good point, I say. But for now…I need it to talk to my own baby.
I already know the manual alphabet.
I learned how to say:
Good morning
Nice to meet you
How are you
Milk
Water
Boring
Eavesdropping
Me, too or “we’re the same on that”
I love you
No
Yes
Shower
Gold
Silver
Please
I also learned that every person you encounter who is not hearing impaired thinks they know sign language. They also think there is only one way to accurately sign anything, and it is NEVER the way you learned.
