Had a parental discussion with Autumn about name brands today. She wanted the “Scooby Doo” applesauce for her lunch. I told her, I would be happy to buy her apple sauce, but that it did not have to be Scooby brand. In fact, that I specifically did not want to buy her applesauce with a licensed character on it.
“But I really LIKE that kind.”
“Well, there aren’t ground up Scooby Doos in that applesauce Autumn. It’s the same stuff. You pay extra, even maybe a whole 50 Cents extra, just to look at a picture of Scooby Doo while you eat. So groceries cost a lot more with pictures and cartoon figures on them.”
(She makes a face like she can’t believe it.)
“It’s true.”
I think we may of convinced her. But she still likes Scooby, though.

I just had to buy some of these the other day, in lieu of wipes (which I don’t use, I use normal washcloths soaked in baby wash and water, but I was out!), in an emergency. I plan to wash them (they are tough enough to last through several washes) until they fall apart, so I am NOT using them in their intended way.
But I got to thinking about them, and I’m really outraged such a product even exists.
First of all, they cost 3.47, and there were about 10 of them. So you’re spending .34 cents to wash your child one time? And altough many convenience items I don’t use make sense if you’re “out and about”...come on! If you’re washing your baby, chances are you’re at home, or someone’s home. You can’t use a stinking wash cloth? And granted, they are lavender scented. But hello, can’t you buy lavender scented baby wash if you love it so much? What’s your goal…no laundry? Do you have disposable outfits for your child, too? The fact that this product exists tells me there is a market for it, and makes me sad.
People of the world: I would like to ask you to stop filling it with unnecessary garbage. I know many people don’t care or can’t be bothered to be green. I was one of those people for most of my life. But disposable washcloths you can definately live without! Just say NO!
