I know this is a completely unhelpful entry but I’m in a bad mood and I just noticed that there are 641 people who want to “witness the end of IE” and only 22 who want to complete this goal (“live to see the legalization fo gay marriage”). WHY?!

that this shouldn’t ever have needed to be one of my goals. I was talking about religion and homosexuality with one of my friends when she said “I don’t have a problem with gay people, it’s just that I don’t think they should want to be married. That’s something between God and you and if they’re doing something against God then how can they want their union to be recognised by Him?”.
I know that I have not been raised in any religion and I don’t have the same upbringing or understanding that she does… but I was brought up in a household that had a similarly bleak opinion of homosexuals and I still chose to have my own opinion and beliefs, and I still can’t even comprehend that she wouldn’t see that: (a) gays who want to marry probably interpret their relationship with God a little differently and (b) marriage is now not just a mark of union recognised by God but also one that gives you completely different rights in law.
ARGH. I need to stop writing because I’m bitter and angry. sorry.
