I just spent a month in Guatemala and the first five days of that taking a week-long class of one-on-one Spanish lessons. Between my three years of high school Spanish (that’s been buried in the attic of my brain) and my Italian skills, I was actually able to be conversant in a language that I thought I didn’t have a hope of speaking now (and didn’t really until the class). Now I’m thinking that with just a little work (maybe a whole summer in Guatemala) I could be pretty decent in Spanish. Maybe I need to bump Spanish to the top of the “languages to be learned” list.

After living in Italy for three years I’m pretty fluent in Italian. Although I’d certainly like to improve, I’d also like to learn another two languages. I’ve taken some French and Arabic classes so those would be next on my list to really learn.
