I started making origami cranes nearly a year ago, in fits and starts (mostly fits). It’s a goal that can’t or at least shouldn’t be rushed. Patience is key here, just as in life. I learned to enjoy the meditative process of origami. Although I only know how to do this one design, it’s been an incredibly fascinating journey.
I hope to post some pics of them….I created 20 strands of 50 to be used as a backdrop in my living room.

Been a little slower over the past couple weeks, but I’m glad I hit this milestone.
I have a the next week off, and my goal is to finish off the goal by May 1!

I can’t see the finish line on this one, but I do see light at the end of the tunnel. :)

This is taking a lot of time. Each crane takes me a good 5 minutes, even when focused. That’s 5000 minutes for this goal, excluding purchasing, writing these entries, etc.
5000 minutes = 83 hours
Luckily, I’m now officially half way done. I really don’t know what I’ll be doing with 1000 cranes in terms of display. I think I’ll write a haiku (in Japanese of course) as part of it.
EDIT: as of 3/23/08, I have 600 cranes done.

I’m up to 450 as of 3/14/08!
I can’t believe how long this goal is going to take. Ideally over the next two months.
Sub-goal is to do either 10 cranes per day, or 100 per week.

...about 200 right now.
This goal might take another year. :-(

...I have about 75 right now, but ran out of paper. This one’s gonna take a while. Tonight I’ll go buy more origami paper.
