keeping track of kindness to others… There are lots of things I do but don’t even think of as special. Giving money to strangers really wasn’t worth it! I prefer the kindness where I help someone I know. I prefer to help kids, too. I felt better when I did a kindness for someone I knew, as I didn’t have to worry if I was being “ripped off”.

gave money to a young woman in the parking lot of the grocery store… maybe I’m just naive… I don’t care… Afterwards, 2 old people walked by my car to tell me off for giving her money. They said she’s just a crack head, which I should have seen. Well, I didn’t see that and I’m not going to judge someone I’ve never seen before. I felt sorry for her. That’s all.
As was walking around the neighborhood today with my youngest son, handing out little cakes we’d baked for Christmas presents, I saw the mailman pull up to our mailbox. I ran straight over and gave him one. He looked so happy for the gift.
I did a kindness and forgot about it. I like that! I lent $5 to someone I know at the children’s play about a month ago. I totally forgot about it and didn’t even expect her to remember and repay me. Guess how surprised and pleased I was when she stopped by on Saturday to drop off the $5.
picked up 2 kids and had them to play at our house while their dad was busy studying for and taking a final at college. A little less stress for all parties, I hope.
dropped off food for a family from scouts. The dad just had back surgery. They seemed happy to receive a meal. And I tried out a new recipe for sweet potato corn bread. Yum!
I helped the older woman next to me at the computer at the library. She didn’t know how to print from the computer. Although I lost a few minutes of my precious time, I leaned over and showed her how to do it, twice. A simple kindness.
I’m helping out a family we’re friends with by taking their sons to boy scouts with us.
I know how hard it was for them to get to their former troop (about 30 minute drive each way). Their father hadn’t been able to take them for over a year. That’s why I suggested they could transfer to this troop, which is close to their home.
I’ve introduced the 2 boys and helped them get to know this troop. I pick them up and drop them off each week. And tonight I even gave a used boy scout book to them, so the father wouldn’t have to buy a new book, as well.
I put even more books on the front wall to give away. This is so fun! So far I’ve given away 12 books this way.
