I’m trying to knit my first scarf (after weeks of practice squares and uneven stiches). Ribbing was too hard, I dont really understand how to see the stiches after the first row of knit 2 purl 2…
So I’m just going to knit a scarf (no purling) with some beautiful yarn I found over the weekend. Perhaps for boyfriend?

Okay, it is Jan. 1, time to get serious about this knitting thing. One trip to the craft store for some needles and cheap yarn: check. One book requested from the library: check. Paniced call to Aunt who knits: check.
You see, I had know idea there were SIZES of needles and that your yarn and needle size had to match. Fortunately, my aunt was able to sort things out for me and I am not ready to pick up my book at the library and start stumbling through.
If that doesn’t work—a class! I am serious about this one.

I’ve recently been interested in learning to knit. But there are a couple of things holding me back…
1. I’m really into paper crafting (book binding, card making, letterpress, etc) and do I really, REALLY want to ad a whole new medium with its associated tools and materials. Am I really that crafty?
2. I never really pictured myself as a knitter. My mom is a quilter and fabric just holds zero appeal to me and I always kind of folded “yarn” into the “fabric” category…
Anyway, suddenly I’m very interested. I will need a class for sure as I looked through some knitting books at the library and it made zero sense. Perhaps in January.
