My friend was telling me a story about a fire in her ex-boyfriend’s house a long time ago. The place was practically burnt to the ground. It got me thinking about how even without the loss of your life or loved ones or pets, a fire can be so horrifically devastating.
A few years ago there was a fire in my building. Only one or two apartments were damaged. My place was not affected at all. But as I ran out of the building I realized I had nothing but the clothes on my back and my keys. In fact I think I just had on my robe and sneakers. I didn’t even take my purse. Or my photos. Or my jewelry. Or a warm coat. Or my cell phone. Or my childhood toy. Or any important papers. Nothing.
So I need get organized.
I need a kit to grab in case of fire or evecuation with important papers, some clothes, toiletries, first aid kit, cash, and some food and water.
I need a list of other stuff to grab in an emergency – jewelry, coat, purse etc.
I need to stock up on canned food and water in case of an Avian flu outbreak, another terrorist attack, or any other random crap that comes along.
