Slow and steady... 3 years ago

My mum is helping me look for universities and she is helping me set up my documents and whatever college entrance exams. We are 2% there but it’s a start. I’m hoping for the best!! Right now we are looking at Pace but I guess it won’t hurt to apply to NYU and Columbia.

EDIT: Scrap it. Can’t afford it. Back to the drawing board.

My plan 3 years ago

Above is my plan. I weighed out my pros and cons and it looks like what won is the option “major in humanities/business here, get at least 2 years work experience in Human Resources here and save at least $10,000 and fly to Manhattan”. I need some critiquing please!!

This may sound dumb but 3 years ago

I am in high school. In Singapore. And I am not a US citizen no matter how much I look like one. I am planning to work in New York particularly in the financial industry (Ernst & Young, Goldman Sachs). Now I only have the means to go to university here.

What do I major in? I am also good with computers if that helps (I heard computer jobs are major in NYC) and nursing is big here right now. Basically, I need a job that would help a broke and inexperienced non-US citizen survive in the city. I am pretty flexible.

Lastly, how do I save up so that the moment I graduate college I can get my ass out of here and fly straight to New York? Or is it a better idea to get some work experience here first? Because I AM DYING TO GO THERE.

P.S. If I do have the means to study in NY, do you think it is too late for me to apply (I am a junior HS student) at Columbia or NYU?
