Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

horrible sleep

and my arms and hands keep going numb. It is the weirdest thing. My nurse daughter told me I need to go to the emergency room as I may be having a heart attack. I told her I will call the doctor in the morning.

cutting out that salt

certainly makes a difference, 3 pounds of water weight lost already, my ankles are less swollen at the end of the day, and no more puffy eyes or hands. I feel better.

Cutting out the sugar has made a difference in caloric intake. No sugar also means no donuts, muffins, candy or sweets. (My biggest downfall, I crave, crave, crave, now the cravings are all but gone. When I do crave I will have one square of 70% cocoa dark chocolate.)

No alcohol, well clarity of thought is the first thing that comes to mind. I have slept better other than work worries. As well as less emotional churn.

I ate well

but did not exercise like I wanted to today. I did stay away from milk, salt, sugar and alcohol.

someone told me

that they worry about work so much that they don’t get a lot of sleep. I think I am beginning to understand that.

feeling sweaty today

with some concerns about my health these days I am a little hyper sensitive to any change in my body. This could very well be a result of my walking yesterday, I react very quickly to exercise.

that's it!

giving up a few things for the sake of my health, starting tomorrow.

1. salt
2. sugar
3. alcohol
4. milk (lactose intolerant and continue to eat despite)

cutting down on

1. simple carbs
2. fried food

I gained 5 lbs on vacation

too much starches, sugars, impulse and emotional eating. Not good, my legs feel swollen, I know this weight puts more of a strain on my heart and can’t help with my blood pressure. And it is not so much my body image that I am worried about here but my health.

Also feeling some small twinges in under my arm that I have not felt before. Could be from all the drinking I did during my vacation or the extra weight I have gained, poor eating and no exercise lately. It is scaring me though. I ma not sure whether I should give it a month, see how I feel with 10 pounds less weight, better diet, more exercise, more water and no alcohol. Or should I get it checked out right away.

I may make an appointment and still incorporate these new habits for my own healths sake.

my feet are killing me.

that planter fasciatis was killing me yesterday. I walked about 16 miles yesterday. It was four miles from the hotel to downtown Washington and then another 4 miles back. I walked at least 6 miles while I was in town if not more. My heels were killing me when I arrived. My legs were swollen as it was close to 90 outside yesterday and the sun full on. I can barely walk my heels are hurting so much. I need new running shoes as these have lost their support. Perhaps while I am shopping tomorrow I will find a good pair.

I am hoping for cooler weather today. It is currently raining out. I am heading to the ball game tonight so let’s hope the rain disappears.

about my legs. After my management class, three days of sitting, sitting , sitting, and the long drive home, I developed a pain in my leg which I am worried could be a clot from all the sitting. I have not been exercising like I should. And now a 12 hour drive to Washington seems to have made that pain flare up again.

I really need to stay more active for SOOOOOOO many reasons.

the vibration of the car

and the long drive made my knee sore as well as my shoulder and elbow. Advil.
