go camping

Another summer over. The nearest I got was putting my tent up in the living room to show Paperfaerie how it fitted together. Oh well, maybe next year…

and every summer it never quite happens. Well, not since 2005 anyway. Maybe this year? I feel galvanised to do this after spending most of last weekend on windy beaches in Northumberland getting out of breath, chilly and tearful about my “homeland”. I just want to get back to nature for a bit… although I will need to waterproof my tent first…

This never quite happened, life, deaths and other plans conspired against me. Oh well, maybe I’ll get to do some next year.

Is going to be camping weekend! Weee! In the wilds of Northumberland near some standing stones and celebrating my brother’s birthday! I can’t wait!

The countryside is calling me! I want to sit outside my tent and drink a can of lager. I want to leave my walking boots in the “awning” of my tent. I want to walk tentatively and barefoot across the dew soaked grass to have a wee in the bushes in the morning. I want to have bad hair and not care as I’m outdoors and I’m allowed to be scruffy. I want to be where other people are not. I want to see the stars properly. I want to leave the oppressive city behind and feel free!
