...narrated by President Bartlett ( ;) ) and a really beautiful and moving account of Tibet’s tragic recent history.
I have felt increasingly called to Northern India/Nepal/Tibet region and it’s really a priority for me in travel terms.
I’d like to do another trip soon focussing on that region and incorporating some more of Yunnan and Qinhai area of China.
As part of the trip I’d like to do volunteer work where possible and stay with local communities. It will be a big culture shock but it’s a great way to travel and really get below the surface of local communities and cultures.
There are loads of volunteer posts open in Dharamsala, for english teachers, writers etc- so I reckon that should be fairly easily sorted.
Plan of action:
1- Save money, raise funds!
2- Plan when I’m going and who with
2b- plan route and apply for volunteer work along route
3- Visas and flights
4- Health and safety considerations
5- get going!
I think it will probably be next Autumn that I go, after my rental contract on the flat is up and my man has finished his Masters. I’m hoping he’ll be up for coming with me, but maybe I’ll end up going with a friend.
Time to start chatting to people.
I could go alone I suppose…
