I’ve pulled a calf muscle with only 3 weeks to go before SuperSEAL. This sucks on a grand scale, since I’m not known for patience for my body’s healing process.
It’s also my second injury in four months. I’ve been (mostly) injury-free for almost five years, aside from various hip, neck, hamstring, and shoulder aches and pains. Can anyone say “overtraining”? I didn’t think I was pushing it that hard, but…the body indicates otherwise.
So. Cross fingers. Arnica. Traumeel. Stretch. Cross-train. Stay off the damned leg.

Since I starting training three weeks ago for SuperSEAL (www.superfrogtriathlon.com), I may have increased my fitness, but I haven’t decreased my weight. Heh. It’s easy to over-eat after training, and it’s easy to justify eating the wrong food.
The trick, I think, is to have available smaller portions of more sensible foods—as much of a pain in the neck it is to prepare those portions. Still, anyone trying to get better in triathlon needs to consider nutrition as another “event.”
SuperSEAL marks my first tri of the season, and this is my sixth season. I decided to sign up with only 7 weeks of prep. I love a challenge.
